Chevrolet-Supplied Domino’s DXP Heats Up Pizza Delivery

If you ordered from Domino’s this month, you may have noticed your pizza arriving in an eye-catching new vehicle. Looking out at your driveway or parking lot, there’s a possibility that something other than a well-experienced compact car was used to convey your snack or meal to your door by the delivery person. Entering service in 25 markets in the United States starting in October, the Domino’s DXP is a small pizza courier that can really haul slices.

Domino's Chevrolet Spark

Inspired from the input of a crowd-sourced challenge to develop a concept for the popular pizza delivery company, the all-new Domino’s DXP (Delivery Expert) vehicle is specially constructed for its purpose. Constructed on a small, fuel efficient 2015 Chevrolet Spark, the DXP fleet delivery car features several built-in tools to promote Domino’s in a manner few other competitors have done.

Though the subcompact is among the smallest vehicles sold in the United States, the 2015 Spark’s tailored appearance is more than enough to feed an entire pizza party. Pie capacity of the Chevrolet Spark-based Domino’s DXP is rated at 80 pizzas. The rear passenger access of the Spark is replaced by a driver-side hatch for a warming oven. Other aesthetic touches detailing the DXP are some custom style graphics capturing the Domino’s brand in a hip persona. “The Chevrolet Spark is the perfect vehicle to bring our pizza delivery to life,” said the president of Domino’s USA, Russell Weiner, sharing how the DXP will enhance franchises. The 1.2-liter four-cylinder 2015 Spark’s engine provision of high fuel mileage is also stated as an attractive characteristic for the Domino’s DXP.

The fleet of Domino’s DXP machines will total 100 vehicles. Each delivery driver taking the wheel of the new, modified 80-pizza-hauling Chevrolet Sparks will gain special training to familiarize themselves with principles to optimize the features found on the DXP. An OnStar navigation system is among the added tools ensuring prompt and precise trips.
