5 Ways Mercedes is Leading in Autonomous Cars
It’s no secret that automakers are racing to bring autonomous cars to the market. It appears that Mercedes-Benz is leading the pack. The manufacturer has so many autonomous features that its cars could take center stage in a sci-fi movie.
1 – Distronic Plus with Steering Assist
Distronic Plus with Steering Assist is one of the coolest autonomous features to hit the market. Debuting in the 2014 Mercedes-Benz S Class, this feature keeps the car centered in the lane and also keeps it at the proper distance from vehicles in front of it. If you love technologies that make you safer, you will love this feature.
2 – Traffic Jam Assist
For years, companies have been trying to help passengers deal with traffic jams. Mercedes’ Traffic Jam Assist steers, brakes, and accelerates in traffic jams, without the help of the driver. The feature works with the car going up to 36 mph.
3 – Active Blind Spot Assist
Many people put blind spot mirrors on their cars. Mercedes is doing away with the need for blind spot mirrors on cars and trucks by offering Active Blind Spot Assist. This technology detects vehicles that are hidden in blind spots. If you try to change lanes when a vehicle is detected, it will apply the brakes so you won’t collide with the car.
4 – Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC
The Mercedes can parallel park and park into regular spaces with Active Parking Assist with PARKTRONIC. It can even get the car out of parallel parking spaces on its own. If you have trouble parking, this is an exciting feature for you to have. You can look like you are a parking pro, even when the car is doing all of the work for you.
5 – Pre-Safe Plus
Mercedes doesn’t just offer features to make driving easier, but also safer. Pre-Safe Plus uses a multi-mode radar sensor at the rear bumper. This monitors traffic and sends out a high-frequency warning to the vehicle behind the driver if it is about to make impact.
Mercedes isn’t just a luxury vehicle manufacturer. The company is also making the car of the future…..today. If you love autonomous cars, check out the new S class. You will be amazed by how much it can do without your help.
